Marlborough’s best cycle ride

10 01 2010

Known to local cyclists as the the “Groves” ride, the 100km loop from Blenheim-Picton-Havelock-Renwick-Picton takes in some of the best scenery in NZ. Queen Charlotte Drive between Picton and Havelock is a hilly, winding nightmare scenic drive in a car – but paradise for a cyclist  if your legs are feeling good and you’ve got out of bed early enough on a summers morning to avoid the tourist traffic.

Also known now as the Graperide, after an awesome race -starting at Forrest Estate–  that attracts 2500 riders each year

6.00am bunch ride tackles the Mahakipawa Hill, 7km from Havelock.
