Shaun Quincey almost home

13 03 2010

We first posted about Shaun Quincey here, the unbelievable nutcase hero who set out on 20 Jan to row across the Tasman.

We’ve been following his Twitters on this website also.

Well, tomorrow morning some time he plans to land on NZ soil, somewhere on 90 mile Beach.

Landing on terra firma is not going to be easy. From his blog

The next big issue for Shaun is landing. Currently there are 3m swells further up Ninety Mile Beach (The Bluff), and 2m swells at the lower end. Coming in through 3m swells will destroy him and staying out at sea waiting for it to drop will only expose him to more northerly drift, so he definitely still has some big issues to deal with. Landing at night obviously just increases the risk so trying to avoid that is also a concern.

Good luck Shaun, we can barely imagine what you have been through so far.
