Portage Kayak Race 16 May 2015

11 04 2015

After the huge success and fun of the Waka Ama races that we hosted alongside the famous Portage Race last year, we are going to do it again this year. The start and finish of both events will be the Picton foreshore.

The format of the Portage Race will remained unchanged from the previous 26 year – 3 kayaking legs totalling 27 km and 2 portaging legs, to take paddlers from The Queen charlotte Sound over into the Kenepuru Sound and back again. Superb scenery, perfect deep water, a very achievable challenge. The portaging sections can be done with or without wheels for your kayak.

The Waka Ama race will be over the same course as last year (20km within the Queen Charlotte Sound) with the only difference being that following feedback from many paddlers there will only be one category, rather than separate categories for  Mixed, Men, and Women. So mix up your paddlers, even up the teams and have some fun!
